[ Story ]

A dramatic film based on information gathered on Chernobyl and its neighboring areas by director Imazeki Akiyoshi, known for his coming-of-age stories. Despite its initial completion in 2004, it was not screened in theaters, but it was eventually released in a re-edited version for which further research was carried out and recent footage was added. The country of Belarus is situated next to Ukraine, where the Chernobyl nuclear accident occurred. Kalina (Nascha Seryogina), a girl who lives near the area that has been contaminated by radiation, has to deal with her ill mother and grandmother, and eventually she too becomes sick.
