A fantasy film from director Yamada Yoji, based on an unfulfilled story idea by the late playwright Inoue Hisashi. Set in Nagasaki directly after World War II, it depicts the relationship between a son, who should be dead, and his mother. Yoshinaga Sayuri and Ninomiya Kazunari play the lead roles.
On August 9th 1948, Nagasaki midwife Nobuko (Yoshinaga) is suddenly visited by her son Koji (Ninomiya), who died in the nuclear bombing of the city. The two talk about many things, including Koji's girlfriend Machiko (Kuroki Haru), and enjoy their time together, but their happiness does not last for long...
