Watanabe Kensaku, who won the Best Script award for The Great Passage at the 37th Japan Academy Prize, writes as well as directs this slice-of-life drama which depicts the conflicts and growth of a comedian?one half of a two man act?whose partner died in an accident.
Umino (Maeno Tomoya), one half of fledgling comedic duo Emi-Abi, dies in a traffic accident just as they were gaining in popularity. His partner, Sanemichi (Morioka Ryu), goes to meet Kurosawa (Arai Hirofumi), the older brother of (Yamachi Mari), who was riding in the car with Umino. Once the predecessor of Ebi-Ami, Kurosawa quit being a comedian on account of something that had happened.
