[ Story ]

Directed by Kore-eda Hirokazu of Nobody Knows, a film that won numerous awards including the Award for Best Actor at Cannes International Film Festival and the Gold Plaque at Chicago International Film Festival. This film, which reflects his own experiences, won the CEC Award for Best Film at San Sebastian International Film Festival as well as the Best Film Award at Mar del Plata Film Festival. The staff who have supported Kore-eda films have gathered again, including Yamazaki Yutaka for Cinematography and Isomi Toshihiro for Production Design, depicting the invaluable time of an ordinary family.
At the end of a summer, Yokoyama Ryota (Abe Hiroshi) visits his parents with his wife and his step son. As Ryota had always been compared with his high-flying elder brother who died 15 years ago, he feels resentment towards his father and reluctant to spend a night at the family home. The house is full again, with father, a retired doctor in general practice, mother who stayed at home to look after the family, as well as Ryota's sister's family who are also there on a day trip. They all sit together around mother's home cooking. Nothing seems to have changed on the surface, but the parents have certainly aged. They each make a small promise with the parents before leaving, but none of them are kept.
