[ Story ]

Tsutomu (Ogata Ken), a hard-working salaryman who has given his all for his family over the years, is on the brink of retirement when he causes a traffic accident. He secretly quits his job in hope of quietly living out the rest of his days with his wife, Noriko (Kurihara Komaki), but she is shocked to learn of his resignation. Tsutomu subsequently embarks on a peculiar endeavor: beginning with the site of the accident, he begins to travel around cleaning roadside curb mirrors. His family is unsupportive of his new obsession, but he persists nevertheless. After attending to every single curb mirror in town, he sets off to Hokkaido alone in order to continue his undertaking. Three years later, Tsutomu reunites with his family at the hospital where he recuperated after the car accident.
The feature debut of director Kajita Seisoku, winner of the 2002 Sundance NHK International Filmmakers Award.
