Winner of Best Film in the 68th Venice International Film Festival's Orizzonti section. Director Tsukamoto Shinya, known for his Tetsuo series, cast singer-songwriter Cocco in the lead role for this extraordinary work about a mother's intense love for her child. Kotoko (Cocco) raises her infant son on her own, and her overwhelming desire to protect him causes her to develop a siege mentality. As her symptoms worsen and her strange behavior becomes more frequent, she comes under suspicion of child abuse and eventually her son is removed from her custody. Then one day, Kotoko is approached by a novelist.
