[ Story ]

An official selection of the 65th Cannes International Film Festival. Internationally-acclaimed filmmaking genius Wakamatsu Koji directs this depiction of the turbulent fortunes of Mishima Yukio and the members of Tatenokai (shield society), the private organization he founded.
Mishima (Iura Arata), one of Japan's foremost literary talents, also gathered together a group of ethnic nationalist youths to establish the Tatenokai. His intention was to create an organization that would spring to action in league with the Self-Defense Forces in the event of a national crisis, but no such opportunity presents itself. Mishima eventually makes the decision to raid the Land Self-Defense Force's Ichigaya garrison.
