Drama depicting the 11-year bond between real-life Japanese POW Yamamoto Hatao, his wife and his fellow internees in a Siberian concentration camp (Lageri).
Set in Siberia 1945, during a severe winter that is forty degrees below zero. Yamamoto (Ninomiya Kazunari), interned in Lageri on suspicion of espionage he does not remember committing, endures, believing he will be reunited with his wife, Mojimi (Kitagawa Keiko), in Japan. Despite the poor conditions and constant strife, Yamamoto advocated hope for life and continued to encourage his fellow detainees. What miracles did they perform as Yamamoto fell ill?
