[ Story ]
Officially screened at the 32nd Hong Kong International Film Festival. Directed by Fujita Yosuke who won the Grand Prize in the 8mm film section at the Torino Film Festival for his short film, A Terrible Tiger (1987). This is his feature debut. The heroine is played by Kimura Yoshino, who appeared in Blindness, by the Brazilian maestro, Fernando Meirelles.
Teruo (Arakawa Yoshiyoshi), a 29-year-old gardener, is the eldest son of a used bookstore owner. His motivation in life, at his age, is to scare people, and he dreams of building the world's scariest haunted house. Hisanobu (Okada Yoshinori), Teruo's childhood friend, works for a cleaning company, but he doesn't find much purpose in life and is concerned about his future. Then one day, Akari (Kimura Yoshino) comes to Hisanobu's company as a part-timer. She turns out to be extremely clumsy, and the company has no choice but to fire her. Kind-hearted Hisanobu begs Teruo to employ her to mind the bookshop. Before long, both Teruo and Hisanobu start to feel for Akari whose character is somewhat lovable.
