[ Story ]
A documentary that delves into the truth behind the High Treason Incident that occurred in 1910. Due to the Meiji government's suppression of free thought, Kotoku Shusui and 26 others judged to be anarchists and socialists were thrown in jail or given the death penalty for the crime of attempting to assassinate the emperor. Their thoughts on their plight are brought to light through various historical documents and items left behind by the condemned, such as a letter written with a needle that was sent from prison by female activist Kanno Sugako who was later executed. Furthermore, reactions from those in the Japanese literary world at the time are compared with their contemporaries in France to the Dreyfus affair. The efforts of people who are still working today to uncover why the case really came about are also introduced.
