[ Story ]

Documentary covering a year of the lives of people living with horses, an old-fashioned culture and lifestyle that hardly remains today.
People living with horses are a rare sight in present-day Japan. In northeastern Japan, the only remaining "bahan" (horse transport) specialists who use horses to haul trees from the mountains are a 74-year-old man and his 38-year-old apprentice in Iwate Prefecture. In Kiso, a breeding ground for indigenous Japanese horses, there used to be numerous households where people and horses lived under the same roof generation after generation, but old age and depopulation have forced people to get rid of their horses. Is there a future for people working alongside horses in Japan's village mountains?
