Adaptation of Shigematsu Kiyoshi's same-named bestselling novel. Helmed by Zeze Takahisa, known for Six Four and other heavy-hitting dramas.
Deliveryman Yasu (Abe Hiroshi) was orphaned as a young kid and is awkward but cares deeply for his family. His beloved wife gives birth to their son Akira, but she dies in an accident. He devotes himself to raising his son with the heartfelt support of people in town. Time passes, and Akira (Kitamura Takumi) decides to move to Tokyo for college. Overwhelmed by sadness at losing his son, Yasu pushes him away.
