[ Story ]

Human drama adapted from Fujioka Yoko's novel of the same name. The film focuses on two brothers "spirit of craftsmanship" and the family love that supported them as they laid the business foundations in Fukui Prefecture, which accounts for 95% of domestic spectacle production.
In 1904, Mume (Kitano Kii) married Masunaga Gozaemon (Koizumi Kotaro), the eldest son of a village leader in Fukui Prefecture, and is kept busy with childcare and household chores. One day, Gozaemon's younger brother Kohachi (Morisaki Win) returns home from Osaka, where he has been working, and proposes that the whole village work together to make glasses.
