[ Story ]
Ichikawa Jun, a highly regarded commercial director whose feature films including Tony Takitani were praised internationally, passed away in September 2009. His last title is a personal film with an experimental style. Told from the point of view of a heroine who arrives in Tokyo from Osaka to seek her missing brother, the film quietly observes the clamor of megalopolis Tokyo. Spoken with Kansai dialect, casting his colleagues from TV commercial productions, and with the director lensing himself, the film sketches the solitude of modern people with a refreshingly new approach. He was posthumously awarded for this film with Best Picture in the Japanese Eyes Section at the 21st edition of Tokyo International Film Festival.
Yuki (Sunahara Yukiko) comes from Osaka to Tokyo looking for her brother Hisashi (Sabakichi) who sent her a postcard after a long absence. In an office district of Akihabara, she first meets Yamaguchi (Yamazaki Takaaki), Hisashi's friend from his college days who asks her to give him a letter. When Yuki visits the address on the postcard near Azuma Bridge, she is stunned to see the shabby Hisashi coming out of a house made of cardboard boxes by Sumida River.
