Nakagawa Yosuke 1997 debut feature Blue Fish (Aoi Sakana) as was his second, Departure, and third, Starlit High Noon (Mahiru no hoshizora), were all set in Okinawa. His films have won international acclaim, including being an official selection of the Berlin International Film Festival Forum. His latest work softly spins a story of the loss and rebirth of love across two generations, a father and daughter, set against the beautiful backdrop of Tonaki Island, Okinawa. The father Ryuji (Sasaki Kuranosuke) is a fisherman that has brought up his daughter Ryoko (Nagasawa Masami) single-handedly. Ryoko and her childhood friend Kazuya (Rachi Shinji) have fallen in love. But when Kazuya dies in a tragic accident while diving for coral wood, Ryoko is overcome with grief and, emotionally destroyed, retreats into silent mourning.
