Go Nagai's classic animated saga of good versus evil returns in this high-tech, live action remake.
Akira (Izaki Hisato) and Ryo (Izaki Yusuke) are best friends who attend the same high school. Akira was orphaned four years earlier and has been taken in by the family of schoolmate, Miki (Sakai Ayana), while Ryo leads a charmed life and wants for nothing. One day while exploring the South Pole, Ryo's scientist father inadvertently releases a horde of demons that begin to possess the bodies of humans and wreak murderous havoc throughout the world. Faced with the extinction of humankind, Ryo convinces Akira to allow himself to be possessed by the demon, Amon, using his pureness of being to retain his human heart and fight the evil creatures as "Devilman." Meanwhile, a wave of indiscriminate slaughter in the name of "demon hunting" sweeps the globe, claiming thousands of innocent lives. Only Akira can end the carnage, but his enemies are legion - and Ryo may prove to be the most formidable of all...
