[ Story ]
Adapted from the best selling girls' comic which has sold more than 23 million copies.
Nana (Miyazaki Aoi) leaves for Tokyo to follow her boyfriend. On the train, she meets another girl also named NANA (Nakashima Mika) who is a vocalist in a punk band and dreams of being a rock star. The girls bump into each other again when they are both looking for a place to live and end up moving in together. Although they come from very different backgrounds and they are like chalk and cheese, they soon become close friends. The first Nana enjoys hanging out with the members of the second NANA's band. Nana's boyfriend cheats on her and they break up. NANA, the singer, helps the first Nana through her heartbreak because she split up with her boyfriend a while back, though she still misses him. Nana finds out that NANA's ex-boyfriend is Ren (MATSUDA Ryuhei), a guitarist in a very popular band and she comes up with a scheme to get them back together again. Nana takes NANA to her ex-boyfriend's gig and after the concert NANA and Ren get together again.
