A socially-conscious drama from Sono Sion COLD FISH , Himizu , who is currently one of Japan's most sought-after directors at film festivals around the world. Set in a fictional Japanese town, it depicts a family whose lives are torn apart by a nuclear accident. Winner of the NETPAC Award for best Asian film at the 37th Toronto International Film Festival.
In the year 20XX, several years after the Great East Japan Earthquake, another massive temblor strikes off the coast of Nagashima Prefecture. A further nuclear accident occurs as a result, leading to the worst possible case scenario. Ono Yasuhiko (Natsuyagi Isao), a dairy farmer who lives in the area designated for evacuation, finds himself in danger of losing his home.
