[ Story ]
In Tokyo at the beginning of the Taisho Period (1912 - 1926), the wild and carefree Akiko (Hasegawa Kyoko), and the shy and withdrawn Kiyoko (Kimura Yoshino) are classmates in the same girl's school. Both of them are ambitious and seem to have bright futures. However, several years later, Akiko finds herself happily married to a man named Yuichiro (Toyokawa Etsushi), the son of the owner of a big company. Akiko learns that Kiyoko divorced her unfaithful husband and feeling sorry for Kiyoko, she arranges for her to start working for Yuichiro's company. Akiko's naive pity breaks Kiyoko's heart, but at the interview, Yuichiro and Kiyoko fall deeply in love. Eventually, Kiyoko gets pregnant and moves in with Yuichiro after he divorces Akiko. The two women's lives seem to have completely switched, however, Akiko makes a career for herself as a successful, independent businesswoman and Kiyoko finds herself trapped by her family ties.
The story was originally written as a TV drama, but following the success of the drama it was turned into a movie directed by Harada Masato, the director of Totsunyu Seyo Asama Sanso (The Choice of Hercules).
