[ Story ]
Director Doi Toshikuni, who received praise for his weighty documentaries on the situation in Palestine such as Breaking the Silence, follows two families from Iitate Village in Fukushima Prefecture after the accident at the nuclear plant. While focusing on their struggles and suffering, it casts doubt upon government-ordered decontamination efforts.
A dairy farming family is forced to evacuate their village due to the nuclear accident in the wake of the Great East Japan Earthquake. What does the future hold for a homesick father, his son who bids farewell to his irradiated hometown and seeks a fresh start, and his grandchildren who have been exposed to radiation? Amid uncertainty and distrust, decontamination work begins.
