[ Story ]
In Tokyo in the 1950s, weird rumors circulate about the Kuonji clinic. According to the rumors, Kyoko (Harada Tomoyo), the daughter of the chief obstetrician has been pregnant for 20 months and her husband, Makio, has mysteriously disappeared. Sekiguchi, a novelist (Nagase Masatoshi) who is investigating these rumors for a magazine article, visits the clinic with detective Enokizu (Abe Hiroshi), who has the strange gift of being able to see other people's memories. Kyoko's elder sister, Ryoko (Harada Tomoyo in a different role) leads them to Kyoko but Enokizu gets sick and Sekiguchi begins to have disturbing visions. To their horror, they learn that many newborn babies have also disappeared from the clinic. Puzzled, Sekiguchi consults Chuzenji Akihiko (Tsutsumi Shinichi), a secondhand books shopkeeper who is also an exorcist. Enokizu's vision and Chuzenji's powers finally reveal the ghastly truth about Kyoko's pregnancy, Makio's disappearance and the murders of the newborn children. (An "Ubume" is the spirit of a woman who died in childbirth.)
