Drama about the life of Yamamoto Jisho, known as "father figure to orphans left behind in China" for his devotion to repatriating Japanese orphans. Director Yamada Hisako handled the live-action adaptation of Barefoot Gen and Fudeko and the Angel's Piano, winner of the 2007 Child Welfare Culture Award.
Teacher Yamamoto Jisho (Naito Takashi) was captured by the Soviet army in Manchuria and held captive in Siberia. Upon returning to Japan, a letter arrives addressed to Yamamoto, who has been looking for a path for friendship between China and Japan. The letter describes homesick Japanese orphans left behind in China…
