[ Story ]

Rinko (Kurosawa Asuka) is a married woman working as a phone counselor. One day, she talks a caller out of committing suicide. Later, she receives a package that contains a mobile phone and secretly taken photographs in which she masturbates. A man calls the mobile phone and blackmails Rinko into wearing a micro-mini skirt without underwear out in public. She can do nothing but obey his orders and struggles with shame, yet begins to notice something awakening in her own emotions. She finds out the man is indeed the one whom Rinko convinced not to commit suicide. His name is Iguchi Michio (Tsukamoto Shinya), who used to be a sales product photographer. He now spends his time waiting to die in the final stages of cancer, but thanks to Rinko, his dream of being a portrait photographer comes true. At the same time, Rinko's husband, who is mysophobic and has a sexless relationship with his wife, finally embraces her and the couple reconcile.
Acclaimed director Tsukamoto Shinya directed Tetsuo and Gemini. A Snake of June won the Special Jury Prize at the Venice International Film Festival in 2002.
