A documentary shining a spotlight on Shobu Gakuen, an institution for people with developmental disabilities in Kagoshima City. "Silent Color Silent Voice" director Mogi Ayako co-directs with German filmmaker Werner Penzel who directed Step Across the Border.
Shobu Gakuen has been striving for motivated activities above welfare work. Among the various programs are "otto&orabu", a band in which residents and staff play instruments and sing loudly, or the "nui project" which allows them to wholeheartedly delight in working with cloth and thread. These activities pose various questions to those of us who live for the now.
