A theatrical animated film based on "Kantai Collection", a fleet creation game in which players, nurturing and strengthening a variety of "kan-musu" (warships in female form) named after real warships, build their own powerful armada.
The seas are being overrun by a mysterious enemies, the Abyssal warships. Only "kan-musu," young girls with the souls of warships from the past, are the only ones who can stand against this threat. Building on successful military tactics, the kan-musu advance into the southern oceans, but a momentous phenomenon occurs in the area they've made their objective.
