Released in 1957, Ozu Yasujiro's Tokyo Twilight receives a 4K restoration. The anguish and despair of a daughter whose life is thrown into disarray by her mother's abandonment is portrayed by an all-star cast including Hara Setsuko, Arima Ineko, Ryu Chishu, Yamada Isuzu, and Sugimura Haruko.
Bank employee, Sugiyama (Ryu) is worried about his second daughter, Akiko (Arima). Having never known the love of her mother, Akiko runs around with several men as if to distract herself from that loneliness. Then one day, Akiko finds out she is pregnant.
