[ Story ]
The story, scripted by famed director Keisuke Kinoshita, is based on the life of Mieko Ikegami, an authoress whose autobiography became a best seller. Recently married, the heroine, is happy but becomes very ill of an extremely painful rheumatic condition which cripples her. Her husband is kind and attentive as ever but chances for recovery seem slight. Finally she agrees to an operation, only because she hopes that it will kill her. It does not, however, so she leaves the husband who loves her and whom she loves dearly, hoping that without her he can again find happiness.
