[ Story ]

Sanae is released from the home for juvenile delinquents and goes to work in the home of a prominent lawyer. She hates it and does everything wrong, but what she particularly dislikes is the lawyer's sullen son, a boy crippled since infancy by polio. Yet, little by little, they come to rely upon each other and it is Sanae who takes him out for exercise, who teaches him to ride a bicycle, and who has the pleasure, just before she leaves to go out into the world alone, of seeing him walk.
