Architect Tsubata Shuichi and his wife Eiko live in a suburban development in Kasugai, Aichi Prefecture. Tsubata was involved in city planning in the 1960s but distanced himself from the field and has spent the last fifty years cultivating a forest on land that he bought in his suburban development. Then, he gets a new job offer.
