[ Story ]
This documentary is shot in the city of Yubari, Hokkaido which is known for having the highest concentration of elderly people in the world. The film is directed by Ito Shiori who wrote the non-fiction book "Black Box" in which she called attention to sexual violence in Japan. The book has since been translated and published in four languages.
The city's true picture is brought into focus through the voices of people connected to Yubari: a woman who has expertly wielded scissors for many years at a hair salon, a former coal miner, a young boy with a deep affection for the natural surroundings of his hometown, and a man who was dispatched to Yubari from the Tokyo Metropolitan Government then later was elected as its mayor, the youngest in the country at the time.
