[ Story ]
Naoki Prize-winning author Saki Ryuzo's 'Mibuncho' serves as the basis for this character-driven drama. The Long Excuse director Nishikawa Miwa transplants the book's original setting thiry-five years later to the present-day.
Former yakuza Mikami (Yakusho Koji) has spent half his life in prison. Released after serving a thirteen-year sentence, Mikami applies to a TV show in hopes of finding his mother from whom he was separated as a child. Thus he meets the young director of the TV show, Tsunoda (Nakano Taiga). At the same time, Mikami is having considerable difficulty adjusting to society, while his impulsive personality and adamant convictions are causing friction with those around him.
