[ Story ]
The directorial debut of actor Yakusho Koji, known for his roles in Hollywood films such as Memoirs of a Geisha and Babel. A fantastical drama employing an abundance of brilliant colors in the imagery, it takes up the theme of the toad oil peddling, which is a form of traditional Japanese street performance.
Takuro (Yakusho), a day trader who claims he makes millions of dollars per day, enjoys a happy life with his loving wife (Kobayashi Satomi) and his son Takuya (Eita), but one day, Takuya encounters a traffic accident. Unable to tell the truth to Takuya's girlfriend Hikari (Nikaido Fumi), Takuro answers a cell phone call from her; without thinking, he pretends to be Takuya and tells her that he is at the Tanegashima Space Center, pursuing his dream to become an astronaut. Takuro leaves on a trip to spread his son's ashes in the hills, and he recalls a childhood encounter with a toad oil peddler (Masuoka Toru). If he had some toad oil, which is said to quickly heal any wound, couldn't he heal the wound in his heart?
