Documentary about "cenotes", cave water pits that are found throughout the northern part of Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula.
Cenotes were the sole water source during the Maya civilization period, and they were also sites of sacrificial ceremonies praying for rain. People who trace their heritage back to the Mayans still live near the cenotes. Present and past intersect through cenotes said to connect the present with the world of the dead according to ancient Maya civilization. Distant memories reverberate in the bewitching visuals of light and darkness as the camera floats underwater and above ground.
