Maki Taro, the hitmaker behind In This Corner of the World, produces this live-action film adaptation of manga artist Takahashi Tsutomu's fantasy.
The town of Mitsuse is situated between earth and the afterlife. The venerable Tenmasou Inn has a beautiful mountaintop view of the ocean. A girl named Tamae (Non) gets taken there by a mysterious woman named Izuko (Shibasaki Ko). Tamae is the sibling of the young proprietress Nozomi (Oshima Yuko) and her sister Kanae (Kadowaki Mugi), and she fell into a coma due to an accident in the world of the living.
