The debut feature film by Iijima Masashi, director of the documentary Matagi, based on the novel of the same name by Iijima Kazuichi, which won the 40th Contemporary Newcomer of the Year Award. The film tells the story of two young men who take on a forbidden bear hunt.
Yamagata Prefecture's Matagi Mountains, where reverence and symbiosis with nature remain. The bear shooting season has arrived, but hunting is prohibited this year due to a notice from the Environment Agency. Nobuyuki (Sugita Rairu) and Reijiro (Satô Kan'ichirô), who have been living in a hometown surrounded by depopulation and a sense of confinement, head out on a bear hunt together.
