[ Story ]
This is the first feature film in nine years from director Oh Mipo (The Light Shines Only There). Based on an autobiographical essay by writer Igarashi Dai, the film portrays the emotional journey of a young CODA (Child of Deaf Adults).
A son is born to the Igarashi family, who live in a small port town in Miyagi Prefecture, and they name him Dai (Yoshizawa Ryô). For Dai, who grew up with hearing-impaired parents, it was common for him to act as an "interpreter" for his mother. However, as Dai grows up, he becomes confused by the special attention he receives from those around him, and even begins to feel alienated by his mother's cheerfulness.
