A Japanese-British co-production, this human drama was shot in the Lake District situated in the northwest of England by up-and-coming British director Patrick Dickinson with a Japanese cast.
After the death of his beloved wife, Akiko (Kimura Tae), writer Oshima Kenzaburo (Lily Franky) receives a dying wish in her will to have her ashes scattered in Lake Windermere. He leaves for England with his long-estranged son, Toshi (Nishikido Ryo), and his family, but the two men clash at every opportunity due to their mutual feelings of resentment.
