Death row inmate Hakamada Iwao is suddenly released from the Tokyo Detention Center in March 2014. The camera takes a close look behind the scenes of this astonishing situation, in which a death row inmate was released as soon as the decision to open a retrial was made. The film records the lives of Hakamada Iwao, who survived unimaginable hardships, and his sister Hideko, who has continued to believe in his innocence, and through recalled dialogue, delves deep into their inner thoughts.
