Director Iokibe Yukio, known for films such as Naked Village, turns his camera toward Anamizu in Ishikawa Prefecture in this documentary. It highlights the distorted relationship between the town hall and the town council.
Anamizu has seen its population drop below 7,000. Motoyuki Takii, a former middle school teacher living in this declining community, publishes a handwritten newspaper sounding the alarm about profit-driven policies and the town's future. The director highlights the distortions within the town hall and council, where inertia and political expediency run rampant. When a TV program aired after the 2024 Noto Peninsula earthquake, it opened a significant crack in the town. The camera, capturing the budding seeds of change, also cuts into the town's biggest "taboo."
