A human drama depicting the rebirth and new beginning of a woman grappling with profound loss, using real-life rituals as its inspiration.
Yukiko (Watanabe Makiko) lives alone in an apartment in the suburbs of Tokyo. She had lost her beloved daughter 15 years ago and had been unable to escape the pain and guilt that haunted her. One day, Yukiko learns of a ritual called "Nunobashi Kanjo-e" (symbolic crossing to paradise via the Nuno bridge) and is captivated by the otherworldly and ethereal scenery. She heads to Nunobashi at the foot of the Tateyama mountain range to confront the memories of her deceased daughter.
