[ Story ]

Based on a best-selling novel which won the grand prize of a mystery novel award in Japan. Directed by Nakamura Yoshihiro, who attracted worldwide attention for his The Foreign Duck, the Native Duck and God in a Coin Locker.
A team of specialist surgeons, "The Glorious Team Batista", is formed at Tojo University Hospital, to carry out Batista heart surgeries. The usual success rate for the procedure is 60%, but miraculously the Team Batista pulls off 26 consecutive successful operations. Then suddenly and unexpectedly, patients die in one operation after another, prompting a suspicion of murder. Taguchi (Takeuchi Yuko), a doctor specializing in psychosomatic medicine, is assigned to conduct an internal investigation for suspected murder. Being a complete novice in surgery, Taguchi finds herself in a bind and concludes that the deaths were accidental, but Shiratori (Abe Hiroshi), a daring and able government official from the Ministry of Health and Labor, arrives and rejects her conclusion in a single sweep. Taguchi and Shiratori re-launch the Batista investigation. In the comedic exchanges between the two, similar to those between Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson, light is thrown on the elite surgeons' motives for murder in their intertwined relationships.
