[ Story ]

The Tsukiji Market, a central wholesale market located next to Ginza in Tokyo, boasts the world's largest volume of marine products transacted. This film is based on a long-selling manga series of the same title which takes place at the Tsukiji Market.
Akagi Shuntaro (Osawa Takao) works for a general trading company. Just as he is contemplating marriage to his girlfriend Asuka (Tanaka Lena), he is placed in charge of a major restructuring, but he questions the way of working to suit the company. Then he starts to help at "Uotatsu" by chance, a fish trader owned by Asuka's father. Akagi finds purpose in life at the market and resigns from the company. Asuka's father (Ito Shiro), however, objects to Akagi coming to Tsukiji, as he had already decided that Eiji (Ihara Tsuyoshi), who has been with him for many years, will succeed him. Akagi's sure sense of taste, however, gradually changes the father's mind. One day, Eiji reveals to Akagi that he is Asuka's half-brother, and Asuka replies to Eiji that she had known it all along. With Eiji's help, it is decided that Akagi will succeed at "Uotatsu".
