An ensemble piece depicting the heartwarming relationships between a woman who runs a seaside cafe and the people who gather there, featuring nostalgic imagery shot on the Boso Peninsula of Chiba Prefecture. Winner of the Special Grand Prix from the Jury and the Ecumenical Prize at the Montreal World Film Festival 2014.
Kashiwagi Etsuko (Yoshinaga Sayuri) is the proprietor of the Misaki Cafe, located in a quiet rural village nestled by the sea. Watched over by her nephew Koji (Abe Hiroshi) and regular clients including Tani (Shofukutei Tsurube), she leads a peaceful life, until it is interrupted by a series of incidents.
