[ Story ]
Hayashi Yumika was a legendary film actress who appeared in "pink films," TV shows, commercial movies as well as porn videos before her sudden death in 2005, at age 34. When filmmaker Matsue Tetsuaki learns that Yumika had starred in a little-known Korean softcore video titled Junko: The Tokyo Housewife , he embarks on a journey to retrace her footsteps.
This offbeat documentary follows Matsue as he visits memorable locations with three directors (Hirano Katsuyuki, Company Matsuo, Imaoka Shinji) who were close to her, and speaks with some of the cast and crew who worked on the Korean production seven years ago. His quest takes him to Korea and back, bringing together various people who otherwise would never have met. After garnering acclaim on the international festival circuit with his first film, Annyong Kimchi , Matsue drew considerable attention with The Virgin Wildsides . His latest, Live Tape , recently won the Grand Prize in the Japanese Eyes section of the Tokyo International Film Festival. This film features songs by Kawamoto Makoto, a singer with a strong following in Japan.
