[ Story ]
Nostalgic story based on the autobiographical best-seller comic by Saibara Rieko depicting a woman's search to reclaim her joie de vivre by reconnecting with her own childhood memories. Director/screenplay writer Morioka Toshiyuki (Koneko no namida) divides the story into three different time periods, each offering vivid portrayals of the main character and her friends' lives. Featuring the tranquil mountain and ocean views of Ehime Prefecture, this film has been likened to a girls' version of the film Stand By Me. Hitting a slump in her life and having no idea how to move forward, 36 year-old Natsumi (Fukatsu Eri) lays around the couch all afternoon drinking beer. Exasperated by her idle behavior, her new editor Zaizen (Fukushi Seiji) finally confronts her with, "You don't have any friends, do you?" The pointed comment prompts Natsumi to do some thinking, and she begins to recall fond memories of her two best friends from childhood. She then takes a trip back to her hometown—discovering in the process that she had really never been alone at all.
