[ Story ]

A remake of the 2004 Hollywood film that won an Oscar for best adapted screenplay, made by an American crew with a Japanese cast. It is directed by Cellin Gluck, a Japan-born American who has worked as second-unit director on numerous American and Japanese films, including Lorelei and 20th Century Boys. Michio (Kohinata Fumiyo), an unsuccessful screenwriter, goes to Los Angeles when he hears that a friend from his time as a foreign student in the US 20 years ago, Daisuke (Namase Katsuhisa), is about to marry the daughter of the owner of the restaurant where he works. Daisuke picks him up at the airport and they leave on a one-week driving trip. They disagree about where to go, but Michio learns that a woman he once had a crush on, Mayuko (Suzuki Kyoka), lives in Napa Valley in California wine country, so they decide to go on a winery tour. In luck, they run into Mayuko and her friend Mina (Kikuchi Rinko) at a Napa restaurant, but Michio is shocked by Mayuko's maturity and gets drunk. The journey of these two lackluster men, through the gorgeous scenery of California, is told with wit and heart.
