[ Story ]

The crowning achievement of Sci-Fi animation since the first TV broadcast in 1974, Space Battleship Yamato returns to the big screen after 26 years since Final Yamato in 1983. The story picks up 17 years after the last installment. To save the human race once again facing the danger of extinction, the restored Space Battleship Yamato voyages into the outer space. Written and directed by Nishizaki Yoshinobu who has long been involved in the Yamato series, based on an idea by Ishihara Shintaro, a novelist and a politician, the film revives Yamato in full CGI and tells a human drama with new and old characters.
The year is 2220. A black hole with a size 300 times larger than the sun approaches the Solar System and the earth is expected to fall into the massive black hole. A transmigration to the Sairam Star System begins and the first convoy led by Kodai Yuki (voiced by Yume Noriko) departs the earth. But a mysterious fleet attacks the convoy and they disappear. When the second convoy meets the same fate, Kodai Susumu voiced by Yamadera Koichi) is assigned as a commander of Fleet Escort Force and heads to the Sairam in the newly rebuilt Yamato.
