Director Akihara Masatoshi, who has brought many classics of Japanese literature to the silver screen such as Dazai Osamu's "The Setting Sun", has taken Maurice Leblanc's novel of the same title and adapted it as a comedy set in Japan. Popular voice actor Yamadera Koichi utilizes his innate vocal talents in his fine performance as the phantom thief of many faces, Arsene Lupin. The secretary of a tycoon is murdered, and a mysterious cipher was left behind at the scene. University student and amateur detective Ijichi Hiromi (Iwata Sayuri) is convinced that Lupin (Yamadera) is the culprit, and eventually she receives a letter of challenge from the man himself. But isn't he supposed to be dead?
