[ Story ]
The film version of the best-selling girls' comic by Aoki Kotomi, winner of the annual Shogakukan Manga Award. A teenage boy with a serious heart disease, and a teenage girl who continues to love him. Knowing that their dreams can never be fulfilled, but persisting in their love with the support of those around them, the heart-rending story of the couple's pure love is woven from fresh images. Inoue Mao (Boys Over Flowers) and Okada Masaki (Honokaa Boy) bring youthful appeal to their intense performances as the lead characters. The director is Shinjo Takehiko (Life: Tears in Heaven).
Mayu (Inoue) and Takuma (Okada) are childhood friends who, when they were children, promised to marry each other. However, Takuma has a serious heart disease, and doctors have told him he will not live to be 20. The two enter high school. Mayu persists in her love for Takuma, but he doesn't want her to suffer from the death that looms before him, so he intentionally tries to distance himself from her. But when another boy appears on the scene with feelings for Mayu, and through an encounter with another patient fighting the same disease as Takuma, the two find their feelings beginning to waver.
