[ Story ]
Director Iida Motoharu made this documentary following a request from an old lady who had been taking care of abandoned cats for many years. On the one hand, Japan is known to be a country that loves pets and that treats animals like members of the family. But on the other, it 'disposes' of 1,000 cats and dogs every day. Adding to the efforts of organizations such as the Japan Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and its vets, Iida follows the work of Japan's many nameless volunteers who pour their hearts and souls into taking care of abandoned animals. This documentary also looks at Japan's protection of animals during wartime and reports from Britain, a country known for the high levels of protection it gives to animals.
